Roving Segment on Scoreboard - No data connection to a hardwired LED Scoreboard

When a Fair-Play scoreboard is disconnected from the control module (i.e. MP-70, MP-50) a single segment of LED's will rotate around the board.  


Basic Troubleshooting
  1. Is the scoreboard controller on?
    1. Yes - skip to step 2
    2. If the controller is off, make sure power switch is on and the controller is plugged in to an AC wall outlet or charged if you have the battery option.
  2. Is the 1/4" mono cable plugged into the scoreboard 1 or scoreboard 2 port on the back of the controller?
    1. Yes - skip to step 3
    2. No - Locate the mono cable and plug it to either scoreboard 1 or scoreboard 2 ports on the controller.
  3. Is the 1/4" mono cable plugged into the scoreboard?
    1. Yes - skip to step 4
    2. No - Locate the mono cable and plug it into the scoreboard.
  4. Move the 1/4" mono cable from scoreboard 1 port to scoreboard 2 port on the controller. Does the scoreboard connect?
    1. Yes -  Your controller has a bad port and should be sent for repair.  Contact productsupport@fair-play.com to start the return process.
    2. No - Skip to step 5. Skip to advanced troubleshooting or contact your local dealer.  
  5. If you have a second controller try connecting it to the scoreboard.  Does the scoreboard display numbers?
    1. Yes - The other controller has two bad ports and should be sent for repair.  Contact productsupport@fair-play.com to start the return process.
    2. No - Skip to advanced troubleshooting or contact your local dealer

Advanced troubleshooting - (for users that are more familiar with the components inside the scoreboard)
  1. Is the "Data In" port populated on driver 1 in the scoreboard?
    1. Yes - skip to step 2
    2. No - Find the data cable and plug it into the driver board.
  2. If your scoreboard has multiple driver boards, remove the cable plugged into driver 1 and plug it into driver 2.  Does the scoreboard display numbers?
    1. Yes - Driver 1 has a bad data input port and should be repaired or replaced.
    2. No - Its likely that you have a bad cable. Either the one connected to the driver or running from the scoreboard to the controller.
