If you have recently purchased a new MP53/MP73 scoreboard, it is important to follow certain steps to ensure that it is properly set up for use. This guide will walk you through the process of factory resetting and setting up your scoreboard.
Factory Reset
The first thing that should be done with any new MP53/MP73 is to set the wireless to factory defaults. This is done by following these steps:
Hold down the SHIFT and BAT/RF buttons until you see “Enter Pass Code” on the scoreboard's LCD screen.
Enter the pass code: 3214.
The LCD screen should indicate that the defaults have been entered.
Setup a Connection
A new G3 Receiver comes pre-programmed to Group 99. You should check to see if the MP53/MP73 is set to that group by looking at the Board Type and Group # displayed on line 1 when it is turned on. If they don't match, follow these steps:
Hold down the SHIFT and BAT/RF buttons until you see “Enter Pass Code” on the LCD screen.
Enter the pass code: 9632.
Enter group #: 99 (or whichever group number you need to use).
You should now have a full connection and be able to change everything.
Change Scoreboard Board Type
The G3 Receiver needs to be set up with the correct board type. Do that by following these steps:
Hold down the SHIFT and BAT/RF buttons until you see “Enter Pass Code” on the LCD screen.
Enter the pass code: 1507.
Enter board type #: __ (fill in the correct board type number).
The G3 Receiver will then “reset” (showing all 8’s) and then a number should appear.
Enter the number of the one to change: __ (fill in the number of the board type you want to change).
Information should start displaying closer to correct.
Change Scoreboard Group #
The G3 Scoreboard Receiver now needs to be set up with the correct group number. Do this by following these steps:
Hold down the SHIFT and BAT/RF buttons until you see “Enter Pass Code” on the LCD screen.
Enter the pass code: 7456.
Enter group #: __ (fill in the correct group number). This can be found in the chart previously provided.
The G3 Receiver will then “reset” (showing all 8’s) and then a number should appear.
Enter the number of the one to change: __ (fill in the number of the group you want to change).
Setup Controller
The MP53/MP73 Controller now needs to be set up through the normal configuration steps (holding down “0” and “Enter”). Turn off control after setup as the radio now thinks it is a receiver, not a transmitter.
Change Controller Group #
If the scoreboard was set on the default group number, you may skip this step. Otherwise, the MP53/MP73 Controller now needs to be set up with the control group #. Follow these steps:
Hold down the SHIFT and BAT/RF buttons until you see “Enter Pass Code” on the LCD screen.
Enter the pass code: 9632.
Enter group #: __ (fill in the correct group number).
We hope this guide has been helpful in setting up your MP53
